Today is International Zebra Day!

International Zebra day is a day to celebrate the amazing zebra but also, and most importantly, to raise awareness on the rapidly declining zebra populations around the world.

The natural environments of zebras are in danger as they are only diminishing as they compete for space with other grazer and human development. On top of their disappearing natural habitats zebras are also in danger of game hunter who kill zebras for their hides and pelts.

Circa 1883, the Quagga zebra went extinct. It had been ruthlessly hunted and exterminated by colonizers. This must not happen again.

Right now, the imperial zebra, primarily found in Kenya and Ethiopia, is endangered and at threat of extinction. In the last 30 years its population has declined by 54 percent!

International Zebra Day is a day to raise conservation effort, that the zebra may not go extinct!
