Today, 7 February 2023, is Independence day in Grenada. It is a public holiday celebrated, with parades and ceremonies, across the country every year on 7 February.
On this day, 7 February 1974, the crown colony gained its independence from Britain.

The start of the first Black History Week
On this day, 7 February 1926, was the first Negro History Week, now known as Black History Week.
It was created by Carter G. Woodson. Black History Week, though still celebrated, later evolved into Black History Month – mainly celebrated in Canada and the United States of America.
